But with the premiere of an annual edition, Les Remarquables de Martell, the House of Martell — the oldest of the great cognac houses, founded in 1715 — has, in 2024, taken the luxury concept to a level never previously conceived in the spirits world. It’s an ultra-exclusive multi-disciplinary experience, seasoned with a dash of French savoir-faire.

Beginning this year, Maison Martell will release on an annual basis a single dame-jeanne (demijohn) of a blend featuring some of the rarest eaux-de-vie in its holdings, a blend never to be duplicated or repeated. The inaugural dame-jeanne itself has been transformed into a unique work of art, also never to be replicated, featuring spun gold and precious gems, by one of France’s finest artists. The person who acquires it will get to personalize this singular objet d’art, both the blend of the cognac and the cabinet in which the dame-jeanne is housed. And the physical object is paired with a series of bespoke immersive experiences in both Paris and Cognac, encompassing the worlds of art, cognac, and luxury. At a price of €1 million for the premier edition in the collection, this defining moment in the history of cognac is within reach for a precious few, but it will only become the prized acquisition of a single individual.
